San Diego Cathedral - Plain Design
This is a mild shank with not a lot of leverage because of the angle that it sits in the horses' mouth. It is a loose shank and it will give you full lateral flexion of your horses neck and head. I use it both for training the younger horses and showing a horse that is a little stiffer laterally.
I suggest this mouthpiece only to experienced riders because even if it's not extremely severe, it won't serve its purpose. I use it on horses that are already advanced in their training and that need to stay straighter and go forward in their face. I never bump on the horse's face when using this mouthpiece. Instead, I hold onto the horse's face and ride him forward with my legs. I think you'll like using this bit on a wiggly horse that doesn't want to stay straight with its shoulders.
